Residents of Buddu county have launched Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi's  31st coronation anniversary festivities.

The festivities begun with cleanliness drive dubbed "Bulungi bwansi."

The Buddu county chief  Jude Muleke said  the initiative underscores a commitment to hygiene and community pride.

The commencement of the Kabaka's coronation celebrations in Buddu county has brought together local leaders and school children in a symbolic act of community service.

Muleke emphasized the educational significance of the cleanliness drive, stating, "It is heartening to see our children embrace cleanliness and hygiene as integral values."

Muleke further urged head teachers to ensure ongoing cleanliness efforts in schools as part of the coronation celebrations.

"Our schools play a vital role in instilling civic responsibility and respect for our cultural heritage," he remarked.

In a plea for cultural reverence, Muleke addressed the issue of disrespectful behaviour among youth, emphasizing its inconsistency with Buganda customs.

"It is crucial that our children understand and uphold the traditions of our kingdom, which include respect for elders," he asserted, calling for an end to disrespectful behaviour.

School children participating in the Bulungi Bwansi initiative shared their perspectives on its importance within their communities, expressing enthusiasm for its extension to neighbouring provinces.

Meanwhile, in a show of solidarity, Kabaka's chiefs from Mituba 22 in Kitanda, Bukomansimbi district, donated over 1,000,000 “Olumuli” towards the completion of the Buddukiro house.

Led by Kalawudiyo Nsubuga, the chiefs emphasized the ceremonial significance of completing the structure in time for the Kabaka's coronation.

"It is our duty as custodians of tradition to ensure the honour and dignity of our kingdom," he said. Kalawudio affirmed.

As preparations intensify for the Kabaka's coronation scheduled for July, 31 2024, the community of Buddu county remains committed to upholding cultural values through acts of service and communal support, reflecting a deep-seated pride in their heritage.
