He said he had been picked by people moving in a vehicle registration number UAP 164P and over the weekend, it was reported that a search was conducted at his home and several items including military pips were recovered.
On Monday, when asked about the incident, Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke admitted that whereas Kivumbi had been arrested, the operation had been carried out by the military.
“He was not arrested by police but we have established it was an operation done by military authorities. He is in hands of the military and I request you reach out to the military for details,” Rusoke said.
It has been established that Kivumbi was arrested by operatives from the Defence Intelligence and Security, formerly, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence.
Over the weekend, the NUP leader claimed that military pips found in Kivumbi’s home had been planted here.
“This is the same thing the criminal regime did to our comrade Umar Magala who has spent several months at Luzira Upper Prison. They planted explosives in his children’s room and charged him treason the following day,” Kyagulanyi posted on his social media accounts.
