Organisers have said that upcoming thanksgiving for former Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga will be attended by over 10,000 guests.

The event is to be held at  Kitovu Sports Arena in Masaka City on June, 21.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday, Kimanya-Kabonera MP, Dr.Abed Bwanika said the Katikkiro of Buganda Owek.Charles Peter Mayiga is expected  to be the chief guest.

Bwanika underscored the importance of appreciating leaders while they are alive.

"We often wait until people pass away to show our appreciation, but it is crucial to thank individuals for their service while they are still with us," said Dr. Bwanika.

"Mathias Mpuuga has been an exemplary leader, and it is fitting that we recognize his contributions now."

Dr. Bwanika and Walter Lubega Mukaaku, who have been instrumental in organizing the event, spoke highly of Mpuuga's impact on the community.

Mukaaku highlighted the MP's commitment to quality service and his role in uplifting the people of Masaka.

"Mathias Mpuuga has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the people of Masaka and Uganda at large," Mukaaku stated.

"His efforts in various capacities have made a tangible difference, and we believe it is important to celebrate such leadership. We urge the people of Masaka and beyond to join us in this celebration."

The thanksgiving ceremony comes at a time when Mpuuga is under scrutiny from the National Unity Platform (NUP), which has pressured him to resign from his post as a parliamentary commissioner following accusations of illegally  pocketing shs500 million in form of a service award.

Residents of Masaka said they are enthusiastic about the event, noting that it will be a moment to celebrate Mpuuga's achievements.

"Mpuuga has been a pillar of support in our community, helping us through various challenges. We are grateful for his service and look forward to celebrating with him," said Steven Ngobya, a resident of Masaka.

As preparations continue, the organizers are hopeful that the event will not only celebrate Mpuuga's contributions but also inspire a culture of gratitude and recognition for leaders who make a difference in their communities.
