President Museveni has told residents of Khodeyo and the wider Butaleja District that Uganda’s progress rests firmly on the peace restored after years of insecurity.
Addressing his first rally in the area on Friday, he said elders had reminded him of the difficult past marked by cattle rustlers, rebel activity and instability, and urged the population to safeguard the peace that now enables development.
Museveni said that with stability assured, government is moving to address long-standing infrastructure needs.
He announced that the Nabumali–Butaleja–Namutumba Road and the Tororo–Nagongera–Busolwe Road have secured funding and will be constructed.
The President also welcomed progress in local agriculture, noting that the Doho and Walala irrigation schemes were supporting farmers and improving productivity.
He said communities farming inside wetlands would be guided to protect the environment while maintaining production.
On water access, Museveni said 418 of the district’s 443 villages already have safe water, adding that the remaining 25 will receive boreholes.
He noted that only two subcounties still lack Health Centre IIIs and assured residents that government will build them.
Museveni said these interventions—peace, roads, water, health facilities and controlled irrigation—form the basis upon which Butaleja can accelerate its economic transformation.
