Mafabi Promises Anti-Corruption Drive and Tax Cuts

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has framed corruption and high taxation as major obstacles to service delivery, telling voters in Bukomansimbi and Sembabule districts that savings from fighting graft could directly improve welfare and lower taxes.

Campaigning at Misanvu Trading Centre in Kibinge Sub-county, Bukomansimbi District, Mafabi said Uganda loses an estimated Shs10 trillion annually to corruption—resources he argued could transform healthcare, education, and infrastructure if safeguarded.

He criticised the ruling party for what he described as neglect of the region, pointing to poor road networks and a heavy tax burden on citizens despite long-standing political support for the government.

Mafabi said his administration would prioritise cutting corruption as a fiscal strategy, linking anti-graft efforts to reduced taxation, job creation, and increased purchasing power.

“If we stop the theft, we can reduce taxes and invest in services that directly benefit the people,” he told supporters.

The FDC candidate also pledged to improve social services, expand infrastructure, and boost production, stressing that economic growth must translate into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens rather than increased revenue losses.

He urged voters in Bukomansimbi and neighbouring Sembabule District to elect leaders who prioritise public welfare, arguing that leadership change is necessary to address persistent service delivery gaps.

Mafabi also called on residents to support FDC candidates at all levels, saying coordinated political change would be key to tackling corruption and improving livelihoods in the region.
