Independent aspirant for Arua City Central Division, Haddad Salim, has outlined his campaign priorities, emphasizing urgent action on poverty, education, land security, youth empowerment, and political harmony in West Nile.

Speaking during the Arua City Central Division Parliamentary Debate hosted by NBS Television, Salim—who previously contested on the NUP ticket in 2021—described West Nile as “actually the poorest region,” highlighting the severity of economic hardship.

He criticized the push for residents to convert land into leasehold arrangements, warning that limited awareness is causing many to unwittingly forfeit property.

Salim also raised concerns about youth access to skills development, noting that the NRM-established skilling center in Zombo has not been effectively promoted to benefit young people. He emphasized unity and peaceful political engagement, proposing joint campaign approaches to reduce tensions among supporters.

On education, Salim called for robust budget allocations to rehabilitate schools and improved remuneration for teachers, reaffirming the dignity of the teaching profession.

Salim will contest against incumbent Jackson Atima (NRM), Jackson Obindu (NUP), Kassiano Wadri (ANT), Muzaid Khemis (FDC), and independent candidate Debo Ronald, as Arua emerges as a key battleground ahead of the 2026 general elections.
