Museveni Urges Rubanda Leaders to Allocate 150 Acres for New Industrial Park

President Museveni has asked leaders in Rubanda District to secure at least 150 acres of land to host a proposed industrial park intended to boost job creation and economic growth in the region.

Speaking at Kabirizi Playground during his campaign trail in Kigezi, Museveni said Uganda’s industrialisation agenda is progressing steadily, citing the success of industrial parks in Namanve, Mbale, Tororo and other parts of the country.

“If we have an industrial park here, we shall have development in Rubanda and this will open doors for greater economic participation across the Kigezi Sub-region,” Museveni said.

He urged residents and local leaders to take advantage of emerging prospects in commercial agriculture, manufacturing and services, adding that government remains committed to fast-tracking programmes that support broad-based wealth creation.

“I want to remind you people about the NRM’s 1996 wealth-creation guidelines. I want to also call small and large landowners who align with the principles to boost productivity and increase household incomes,” he said.

Museveni also emphasized unity and strategic planning as key drivers of Rubanda’s long-term transformation once industrial development begins.

The President is today expected in Rukiga and Kabale districts as he continues campaigning in the Kigezi Sub-region.
