Justice Forum (JEEMA) candidate Abdul Wahab Kasozi has pledged to prioritize youth employment and reform the city’s drainage infrastructure, citing these as pressing issues affecting residents’ daily lives.
Kasozi, who is contesting for Kampala Central in the 2026 elections, says meaningful interventions for young people and urban infrastructure are critical for the constituency’s progress.
Speaking during the NBS TV Kampala Central debate, Kasozi noted that Kampala’s youth—who form the majority of the population—face high unemployment levels, which hinder social and economic development.
“The issues we must handle are the issues at the heart of the people of Kampala Central,” Kasozi said.
“There is a big problem of unemployment among young people in Kampala. How do we help them? I am here to represent the ideas and issues of the people of Kampala.”
He proposed targeted investments in skilling programs, innovation hubs, support for small businesses, and partnerships with the private sector, stressing that many young people have talent but lack opportunities.
Kasozi also highlighted Kampala’s drainage problems as a major environmental and public health concern.
“Kampala is a swampy area. I’ve been at the forefront advocating for drainage reforms in Kampala,” he said, warning that poor drainage contributes to floods, property damage, disease outbreaks, and reduced business productivity.
Criticizing years of government inaction, Kasozi argued that without strong parliamentary representation, Kampala will continue to suffer seasonal flooding and inadequate waste management.
Positioning himself as a candidate attuned to grassroots concerns, Kasozi promised to amplify residents’ voices and advocate for policies addressing unemployment, infrastructure decay, and urban planning challenges.
With multiple candidates presenting their platforms, the Kampala Central parliamentary race remains one of the most closely contested ahead of the 2026 General Election.
