PFF Candidates Sweep Through Kajara, Push for Justice and Economic Relief
People’s Front for Freedom aspirants have intensified grassroots mobilisation in Kajara County, urging residents to back a people-centred political shift as communities decry poverty, debt and shrinking civic freedoms.

A team of People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) aspirants has joined Kajara County parliamentary candidate Venansious Ahabwe on an intensive door-to-door campaign across Rwashamire in Ntungamo District, rallying residents around calls for unity, justice and change ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The team moved through Rwashamire Town Council, covering Kyenshankyu, Nyamitooma, Kitunga and neighbouring areas, where residents raised concerns over poverty, debt, inequality and limited civic space.

The mobilisation drive, which began on November 10, has so far taken the candidates through Nyamunuka Town Council, Bwongyera Subcounty and Rwashamire Town Council, where they have held direct conversations with households about daily social and economic challenges.

Ahabwe, whose campaign is backed by a joint slate of PFF aspirants, said the warm reception signals growing public appetite for a new political direction rooted in accountability and people-centred leadership.

“We are very happy with the feedback we are getting. People are yearning for change. They are asking about Dr Kizza Besigye. They want reassurance that the struggle continues,” he said.

“People want a courageous and hardworking member of parliament who will speak up, someone that is not going to be a puppet. I am that candidate who won’t be bribed.”

He said PFF conducted a baseline survey before launching the campaign, identifying what he called enshonga za bantu enkuru—the community’s most urgent priorities—which include improving household incomes, ensuring food security and addressing gaps in health care and education.

Ahabwe said rising living costs have deepened desperation for many families.

“We seek to promote sustainable farming and community empowerment to restore self-reliance,” he said.

As the team moved through Kajara, they found widespread financial distress, with residents reporting unmanageable loans, repeated arrests linked to debt, unemployment and poor road conditions.

Rwashamire Town Council mayoral aspirant Dickson Twinamatsiko said the campaign is driven by the need to restore dignity and fairness.

“We are fighting for equality and justice. Many people, especially young people, are in prisons because of injustice,” he said.

“Most youth have no freedom of expression. When they speak out about their challenges, they are treated unfairly.”

Ntungamo District Woman MP aspirant Winnie Twinomugisha said residents are increasingly embracing opposition leadership despite intimidation.

“People are yearning to see change and to see how leaders from the opposition can deliver,” she said.

“This is the best time for Ntungamo to have leaders from the opposition, not NRM. People see capability in us because we are pro-people. But we are threatened and our posters are being pulled down.”

Her remarks were echoed by PFF aspirant Enock Tumusime, who is contesting for district councillor in Rwashamire Town Council.

He said some campaign teams had been blocked from accessing certain villages.

“We need a patriotic move as PFF to make a fundamental change in our district,” he said.

Ahabwe said the solidarity displayed by PFF aspirants across Ntungamo reflects renewed momentum in the broader political struggle.

“PFF has received much support in this county. People are excited that we are back to further the struggle. The struggle is alive and ongoing for the liberation of Uganda,” he said.
