Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer Nathan James Nandala Mafabi has pledged to provide affordable motorcycles to boda-boda riders if elected president in the 2026 general elections.
Addressing a campaign rally at Cesia Playground in Adjumani Town Council, Nandala said his government would offer motorcycles to operators at Shs2 million each, payable over five years, to empower the riders and reduce economic exploitation by private companies.
“Many companies offering motorcycles on loan are exploiting our young people with high interest rates,” Nandala said.
“My government will make sure that boda-boda riders acquire motorcycles at fair prices and manageable terms so that they can work, save, and improve their lives.”
He noted that the current system leaves many operators trapped in debt, making it difficult for them to escape poverty.
While in Adjumani District, the FDC presidential hopeful held rallies in Dzaipi Sub-county, Pakele Town Council, and Adjumani Town Council, emphasizing his commitment to rebuilding Uganda’s struggling economy.
FDC’s Deputy President for Northern Uganda, Hassan Kaps Fungaroo, who accompanied Nandala, said the candidate’s message resonated with ordinary citizens across the country.
“Nandala Mafabi’s message is very clear — Uganda’s economy is broken, and people are struggling to survive,” Fungaroo said. “He is in Adjumani with a plan to fix the economy and ensure money returns to people’s pockets.”
Fungaroo further urged Ugandans to embrace change in the upcoming elections, saying the nation needs “fresh ideas and leadership” after nearly four decades of NRM rule.
“It is time for new leadership that can engage a new gear to take Uganda forward,” Fungaroo added.
Nandala’s campaign in West Nile continues this week with more rallies expected in neighbouring districts as he outlines his economic reform agenda and promises of inclusive growth.
