While campaigning in Kaabong District on Thursday, Kyagulanyi accused investors of illegally extracting minerals without benefiting residents, and criticized the government for failing to protect the interests of the local population.

Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, has promised to safeguard Karamoja’s mineral wealth from exploitation if elected, vowing to ensure local communities benefit from the region’s resources.

While campaigning in Kaabong District on Thursday, Kyagulanyi accused investors of illegally extracting minerals without benefiting residents, and criticized the government for failing to protect the interests of the local population.

“It is painful to see that Karamoja, a land full of gold and other minerals, is still poor. The people here deserve better,” Kyagulanyi said.

“Our government will ensure that these resources benefit the locals, not a few powerful individuals and foreign companies.”
