The Speaker of Parliament and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Annet Among, has called on employees at Yogi Steels and other Victoria Group of Companies factories to support President Museveni and NRM flagbearers in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing hundreds of factory workers in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, Among praised them for their dedication and linked their job security and livelihoods to the stability and peace provided by the NRM government.

“We should vote for President Museveni for the peace which has enabled investors to come to Uganda, and that is why all of you are employed,” she said.

Among was joined by NRM Central Executive Committee member and Veterans League Chair Rtd Lt. Moses Mushabe, Party Women’s League leader Adrine Kobusingye, and several NRM parliamentary flagbearers from Buikwe District, led by Badru Kabuye, the NRM candidate for Njeru Municipality.

She also pledged to engage factory owners and investors to improve workers’ welfare, stressing the importance of fair pay and better working conditions.

“I will talk to your bosses to ensure you are well paid,” Among assured the workers. She further encouraged employees to form a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (SACCO), promising financial support for the initiative.

“I am here as the Speaker of Parliament, and in Parliament we have some facilitation. I will ensure you people get some money for your SACCO. Elect leaders among yourselves whom I can work with to make this possible,” she added.

Elizabeth Mbeiza, Principal Human Resource Manager at Victoria Group of Companies, commended the government for creating a conducive environment for industrial growth and investment.

She noted that the group employs over 10,000 people across 13 companies, including Victoria Plastics, Gold Star, Yogi Steels, and Victoria Sugar Ltd, and expressed support for the NRM government.

Mbeiza also appealed to authorities to protect local investors from alleged malicious campaigns, particularly targeting Victoria Sugar Ltd in Luwero, which she said faces false claims of environmental pollution.

The event formed part of the NRM’s nationwide mobilization drive ahead of the 2026 general elections, as party leaders continue to consolidate grassroots support and promote messages of peace, unity, and socio-economic development.
