Stop Going to the Wrong Place Looking for Us, EC Says of Headquarters

The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that its Head Offices remain at Plot 1–3/5, Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala, and not in Lubowa as some members of the public have been led to believe.

In a public notice dated October 24, 2025, the EC said it had received reports of individuals visiting Plot 2508, Lubowa, Kigo-Lweza Road, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipal Council, Wakiso District, under the mistaken impression that the Commission had shifted operations there.

The Commission explained that the Lubowa site was only used for the nomination of presidential candidates for the 2026 General Elections and has also been earmarked for the construction of its permanent headquarters, a project still in its early stages.

“The Commission wishes to clarify that it has not relocated its Head Offices to the above address,” the statement read.

The EC urged the public and stakeholders to continue directing all official correspondence, inquiries, and visits to its Industrial Area premises or through the established communication channels.

It also warned against engaging unauthorized persons or offices falsely claiming to represent the Commission from other locations.

The notice was signed by Kamugisha Richard Baabo, the Acting Secretary of the Electoral Commission, who reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to regular, free, and fair elections and referenda.
