The nomination exercise on the first day attracted more than 25 parliamentary aspirants from various constituencies across Kamuli District.

Among them was Andrew Muwanguzi, the National Unity Platform (NUP) head of training and ideology, nominated to contest for Bugabula South.

In Bugabula North, John Teira, the NRM flag bearer, pledged to strengthen the local economy by forming a constituency-wide SACCO to support income-generating activities.

Meanwhile, Baroda Watongola, the incumbent MP for Kamuli Municipality, was nominated as an independent candidate.

She succeeded her late mother and emphasized her desire to complete ongoing projects.

“I started this term after the demise of my mother. I now seek a full term to complete the work we started together,” Watongola said.

The nomination exercise was marked by excitement, with a heavy presence of party supporters creating a vibrant atmosphere as candidates outlined their priorities ahead of the 2026 general elections.
