Muntu Questions Museveni’s Mandate Amid Land Grabbing and Corruption in Bunyoro
Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu criticized President Museveni for seeking another term while issues like land grabbing, job corruption, and health service payments persist in Bunyoro, urging voters to support leaders with integrity.

The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate, Major General Mugisha Muntu, has expressed concern over the state of leadership in Uganda, questioning President Museveni’s right to seek another term while corruption, land grabbing, and the sale of jobs continue in the country.

Muntu spent Thursday campaigning across Hoima and Kikuube districts, holding rallies in Buhimba Town Council, Kiziranfumbi, Kyarushesha in Kyangwali sub-county, Buseruka, and Kipapati before concluding in Hoima City.

Speaking to supporters at these rallies, Muntu lamented that honest and capable leaders have shunned politics, leaving positions of power to those he described as “land grabbers” and self-serving individuals.

“It’s very bad that good and honest people have chosen to give up on politics. Now, leadership is dominated by land grabbers and selfish people. People with integrity must rise and help revive our country,” he said.

Muntu also highlighted the challenges faced by residents in Bunyoro, including the selling of jobs, land grabbing, corruption, and demands for payments to access medicines. He questioned how President Museveni continues asking for public support under such conditions.

“I want to understand: does Museveni know about these issues? If not, his intelligence system has failed. If he knows and does nothing, he has no right to seek people’s mandate. He has failed,” Muntu said.

Despite his criticisms, Muntu assured that ANT would respect Museveni and ensure a peaceful transition if elected.

“We commend him for his contributions. We will not harass him but offer a decent stay in Rwakitura or Kisozi. We need a peaceful transition,” he said.

Muntu urged voters to carefully consider candidates at all levels of government, noting that a stable president alone cannot address the country’s challenges without competent local leadership.

He encouraged support for ANT candidates who, he said, have a clear plan for the region, particularly regarding oil and gas.

Among the ANT candidates he endorsed were Herbert Kato Kefa for Bugahya County MP, Ismail Kasule for Hoima City West MP, and Geoffrey Beraheru for Hoima City East MP.
