Arriving at 12:30pm, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Paul Bukenya, the EC's principal public relations officer.
The submission capped weeks of nationwide mobilization to gather the required two-thirds of endorsements for party registration.
Handing over the documents to Vincent Molokozi of the EC’s political party registration desk, PFF representative Wafula Ogutu expressed confidence.
"Here are the two-thirds of the signatures; our application is here, and also the constitution," Ogutu declared, highlighting their commitment to meeting EC requirements.
Ahead of Schedule
The EC had given the PFF until January 2025 to collect the required endorsements, but the group completed the task ahead of time, reflecting an impressive grassroots mobilization effort.
“We will not wait until January but will immediately embark on the verification exercise,” said Bukenya, signaling the EC's readiness to proceed.
He noted that the verification process would determine whether the signatures meet the stipulated criteria.
If successful, the party name, colors, and symbols will be published in the Uganda Gazette to invite public feedback.
"If no objections are raised, PFF will be officially registered as a political party," Bukenya added, without commenting on possible outcomes should the submission fail to meet requirements.
Roadmap to 2026
Celebrating the milestone, the PFF team shared their enthusiasm for the party’s future.
"All is set on our side. We are just waiting for the green light from the EC, and then we will be good to compete," Ogutu said, outlining plans leading to the 2026 general elections.
As the verification process begins, the spotlight will remain on both the PFF and the EC, with Uganda’s political landscape poised for potential shifts.
