Alliance for National Transformation founder and former army commander has asked security personnel to tread with caution while administering orders of the current leaders.

Muntu’s comments come shortly after security personnel raided and ransacked the offices of the National Unity Platform in Kamwokya, making off with among other items; red berets, and documents.

The former army commander says that the attack on NUP offices by security personnel is “unfortunate, but not surprising”.

He appealed to security personnel of good conscience to remember that their duty is to the people, regardless of who is in office.

“The high-handedness with which security agencies raided NUP headquarters is an unfortunate, calculated injustice we are all too familiar with. Unfortunate, but not surprising. As we've been doing, the ANT stands in solidarity with People Power,” he said.

“We continue to appeal to all security personnel of good conscience to remember that their duty is to the people of Uganda, regardless of who is in office. Time is fast approaching when those you will report to are those you were formerly ordered to antagonize,” he added.

Muntu believes that the country’s stability depends on the willingness of the men in uniform to do the right thing even when it is inconvenient.

“And while Ugandans have a huge capacity for reconciliation, it is not without limit. Our country's political stability depends in part, on your willingness to do the right thing, even when it is inconvenient. Be brave enough to hold onto your integrity.”
