No ID, No NRM? Kasolo steps in

Microfinance Minister Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo is cracking down on money lenders seizing National IDs as collateral. This follows reports of NRM members in Masaka struggling to renew their party memberships due to missing IDs.

Many people couldn't register because lenders held their IDs as loan security. Minister Kasolo declared National IDs as government property and ordered police action against violators.

The missing IDs also raise concerns about fraudulent voter registrations. NRM officials urged vigilance against enrolling non-members, highlighting past discrepancies between party membership and election results.

This move to protect National IDs and ensure proper registration processes signifies a commitment to transparent membership and potentially cleaner voter rolls.
