Construction of Lubowa specialised hospital runs into headwinds
The construction of Lubowa international medical facility could be in balance after legislators faulted ministers from Health and Finance for flouting procurement procedures.
The agreement to build the special facility worth $379 million was signed in 2015. Government pledged to guarantee $379 million (about Shs 1.3 trillion) to the investor through a promissory loan.

Yesterday David Bahati, the minister of state for Finance and Ruth Aceng, the minister for Health, were put to task to explain how this figure was arrived at.
They assured the MPs that given the money will be well spent.
According to the agreement FINASI, an Italian firm, will take charge of the specialised hospital for 6 years upon completion before handing it over to government.
