Rubanda's Hamurwa Health Centre IV Gets Life-Saving Solar Powered Blood Refrigerator

A multimillion solar blood refrigerator has been launched at Hamurwa Health center IV in Rubanda district.

The solar powered  blood refrigerator will paly a crucial role that will improve the healthcare services in the district and Kigezi sub-region at large.

Rubanda district has got two health center IVs that is Hamurwa Health center IV and Muko Health center IV.

Officiated by the minister state minister of Finance Henry Musasizi, the project was donated by Bank of Uganda the project established is expected to address the critical need for safe blood supplies in the district.

Dr. Abdon Birungi the Rubanda District Health officer noted that the facility has been lacking such equipment.

He added that they have been referring on average 15 to 20 mothers to Kabale regional referral hospital adding that out of these, five are in dire need of  blood , especially those who bleed too much while giving birth.

“We had a number of patients especially pregnant mothers referred to Kabale regional hospital but we are hopeful that after this donation from Bank of Uganda, this problem is completely solved Birungi noted.

Dr. Stewart Turanzomwe the in charge Hamurwa Health Center IV highlighted that the facility is still faced with challenges that include the state of the out-patient ward that is in a sole state.

He noted  that there is still a challenge of staff accommodation which has greatly affected service delivery at the facility.

Susan Kanyemibwa secretary Bank of Uganda explained that their donation as Bank of Uganda at Hamurwa Health Center IV is part of the cooperate social responsibility programs that the bank launched in 2016.

She further pledged that the central bank will continue to invest in cooperate social responsibility programs that can impact the welfare of the clients.

Speaking at the launch, the state minister of Finance Henry Musasizi applauded Bank of Uganda to step in to support government in extending the social cooperate responsibility to the local communities.

“When I first came to contest as Rubanda East MP, I had a lot I planned to help with this constituency, and key issues were Health and education. So, when I see Hamurwa Health center IV looking like this, and I know that I have played a role in lifting the standard and quality of health services at this facility. I feel thankful to God that he has enabled me achieve some of my objectives," he said.

The launch of a solar blood refrigerator at Hamurwa Health center has brought a sense of hope and anticipation that this initiative will mark a significant step towards improving healthcare system in Rubanda district.
