We remain vigilant in ensuring that only safe, high-quality products are available to Ugandans

The National Drug Authority (NDA) has reassured Ugandans of the safety and integrity of the country’s regulated pharmaceutical and medical supplies market, emphasising its commitment to protecting citizens from counterfeit and substandard products.

This statement follows a public warning issued by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya regarding a failed batch of Sure Lubricated Dotted Condoms (Batch No. 2405055), which were exclusively manufactured for the Kenyan government. NDA clarified that these condoms are clearly labeled for the “Government of Kenya” and are not available in Uganda’s regulated market.

NDA highlighted its robust regulatory mechanisms, including strict product assessment, licensing, and market surveillance to prevent the entry of counterfeit drugs and medical equipment.

“We remain vigilant in ensuring that only safe, high-quality products are available to Ugandans,” NDA stated.

The Authority urged the public to report any suspicious medical products and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health.

This proactive approach demonstrates NDA’s dedication to ensuring that Uganda does not fall prey to the global challenge of counterfeit and substandard medical supplies.
