Good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is essential for enabling girls and women to reach their full potential.

The Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) has emphasised that effective support for menstruation requires access to water, clean facilities, affordable and appropriate menstrual hygiene materials, information on good practices, and a supportive environment free from embarrassment or stigma.

The #LetsTalkMensese 2024 MHM Innovation Challenge winner was recently celebrated by CEHURD, Sherina Yikpamungu, for her outstanding contribution to menstrual hygiene management.

CEHURD's official X account highlighted the importance of comprehensive support systems for menstruation management.

"To effectively support girls and women manage their menstruation, they require access to water, clean facilities, affordable and appropriate menstrual hygiene materials, information on good practices, and a supportive environment where they can manage menstruation without embarrassment or stigma," it says.

"This initiative aims to break the taboos surrounding menstruation and promote a more inclusive society where all individuals can manage their menstrual health with dignity.

The recognition of Yikpamungu underscores the importance of innovative solutions in promoting MHM and supporting young people in advocating for menstrual health and rights.

By providing education, CEHURD and its partners are making significant strides towards a future where menstrual health is prioritized and respected as a fundamental aspect of human rights.
