Kasaana sub county has, over the years, struggled with a dilapidated one small block that housed their only health center II.

However, this will now be a story of the past after the facility was elevated to health centre III status.

Speaking on Saturday, Dr. Nicholas Mwebesa, the founder of Dr. Nicholas Mwebesa Foundation, who donated it to the church of Uganda  said he refurbished the facility to give back to the community and thank God for saving his life.

"When i got an accident on December, 26, 2015, I was rushed to the then Kasaana Health center II and couldn't even receive first aid and after recovering, I prepared to thank God. It is the health cenre III  you see today," Dr. Mwebesa added.

"After failing to get assistance at the then Kasaana HC II,  I was rushed to Mbarara regional referral hospital, where I was pronounced dead and taken to the mortuary, my body treated but miraculously and gracefully I resurrected ."

While leading the thanksgiving service at the handover ceremony of the health center, the Anglican church of Uganda Archbishop Rt Rev Dr Samuel Steven Kazimba Mugalu cautioned those given jobs at the facility to distance from corrupt tendencies.

"When you are given a job at this facility, please resist from engaging in corruption and bribery because fighting corruption begins with you as an individual and so is ending it," Dr. Kazimba said.

He also applauded Dr. Mwebesa for the gesture and cautioned Christians to not only wait to thank God after overcoming a problem but do so always.

"I want to thank God for Dr. Mwebesa's life, if he died in 2015, we weren't going to have this health center III  constructed and given to the church. That should teach us to always thank God for life. Dont wait to get a problem, overcoming it and then remember to thank God. Thank Him always, "

Government  committed to supporting the Anglican Church's healthcare services at this new facility with  the Minister of Local Government,  Raphael Magyezi, representing the Prime Minister, Robina Nabbanja, applauding  the church for its collaboration with the government in improving healthcare services.

"We will support this health center, and I am happy for this tripartite between government and the Church. We  thank Dr. Mwebesa, for this great initiative. We will sit and ensure that this subcounty also gets a functional ambulance, " Raphael Magyezi said.

The shs 880 million facility is  an addition to the over 3000 health facilities under the church of Uganda.

At the thanksgiving ceremony, over shs54 million was collected to aid in equipping the health facility.
