Faridah Nambi Kigongo has picked up nomination forms to contest as the ruling NRM party flag bearer in the forthcoming Kawempe North by-election, expressing confidence that this time she will emerge victorious.

Her decision comes in the wake of a court ruling that annulled the election of Elias Nalukoola of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who had won the March by-election.

The court nullified Nalukoola’s victory following a successful petition by Nambi, who alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

“This time, I will win,” Nambi said shortly after collecting the NRM expression of interest forms, underscoring her renewed determination to secure the parliamentary seat.

Nambi had previously contested the seat and lost to Nalukoola, but challenged the outcome in court.

The annulment has now reopened the political contest in a constituency known for its dynamic and often heated campaigns.

As a familiar face in Kawempe North politics, Nambi is expected to mount an aggressive campaign, drawing on her prior experience and political networks within the area.

Her bid also signals the NRM’s intention to reclaim a seat that has historically leaned toward the opposition.

The upcoming by-election is expected to attract considerable attention, both within the constituency and nationally, as political parties gear up for what could be a tightly contested race.
