Police deploy to secure Bebe Cool concert, disperse Bobi supporters in Busabala

Featured

In a sharp contrast of events, police and army last night deployed at One Love Beach Busabala, where Bobi Wine is due to hold concert today and cordoned off the place as well as dispersed revellers.

Meanwhile,

police personnel deployed at Kiwatule recreation centre where Bebe Cool is due

to hold the Tondeka Ekiwatule concert to secure the place and police the show.

It is no

secret that the two artistes have been on opposite ends of the political rope,

with Bobi Wine getting stick for crossing Museveni path while his nemesis, Bebe

Cool has even had his show endorsed by the fountain of honour who constantly

refers to him as; “My son,”

Politics involved?

According to the Police Spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, Bobi Wine's show did not get the necessary clearance.

Asked if Bobi Wine will be able to hold his Boxing Day concert,

Kayima said, “I don’t see it happening.”

On why the police had deployed to secure Bebe Cool’s show, Kayima said that Bebe Cool had worked with the police and ticked all requirements, while his colleague Bobi Wine chose to play the political card.

“Kiwatule is confirmed and cleared, we’re

working with them because they fulfilled all the requirements. Bobi Wine is

also a politician and that could be the other angle that always comes in as

opposed to other musicians,” Kayima said.

“The only problem in this country is that some

people fly with the wind. Those who pay for the One Love beach Busabala concert

will know who to hold liable when it doesn’t happen.”

Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago claims that

Bobi Wine is suffering from his decision to join politics.

“The day Bobi Wine declared he was a political

actor, he invited this. This is what we have endured,” Lukwago claimed.

Lukwago advised Bobi Wine to either defy the

police orders and sing or seek legal redress on the matter.

According to Bobi Wine, the show will happen.

“Although

we were disturbed last night, we are here still going on because we are

citizens and we are entitled to be serviced by police. The force they used last

night would have been used secure this concert,” he said.

“It’s

shameful if the police spokesperson doesn’t know that more than 40 policemen

and soldiers were deployed here last night to stop the concert, this shows the

state of our police,” he added.

Bobi

maintains that the show has been in existence for the past ten years and if not

cleared, it is the police’s fault.

“Yesterday,

I had two shows which were also cancelled. The Boxing Day concert being cleared

is the duty of Police, we’ve been having it for the past 10 years, it’s police

that haven’t played their part.”

Meanwhile in Kiwatule

“Everything

is almost in place here in Kiwatule. People here are going to have fun because

the concert has received a lot of endorsements including that of the president.

I’ve seen a few policemen already deployed,” our reporter confirms.

Bebe Cool rules out any political foul play,

arguing that; “This Kiwatule show has been in existence for many years and

there are clearances you have to get done a month before. I personally got all

my letters a month earlier.”

“Kiwatule has nothing to do with whether I

support NRM or not, I am past that issue. I am an artiste and I follow what

police tells me. If police tells me not to do so, I abide with the rules,” Bebe

Cool claims.
