Museveni meets Sudan's RSF boss Dagalo
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni shakes hands with the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudam, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo shortly after their meeting at the President's country home in Rwakitura on 27th December 2023.

President Museveni met and talked with Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the most powerful and feared paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader this afternoon.

Dagalo, a former Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, paid Museveni a visit in  Rwakitura, Kiruhura District on Wednesday.

According to sources, the two leaders held long discussions centred around Sudan's peace process and ways to stop the country's continued conflict.

The RSF under Dagalo staged a coup in 2021 against a joint civilian-military leadership, but a year and a half later, Dagalo seems unhappy about the military, making statements about how its ranks are still filled with loyalists who will hamper the process towards democracy.

In April this year, Sudan woke up to heavy clashes between the army and Dagalo's  Rapid Support Forces in what was termed as a clash for power and relevance. in the aftermath of the fighting, Dagalo called for the replacement of army leadership.
