According to a statement from Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), the landslides are a spill effect from Rwanda. UNRA confirms that an alternative route is already open to allow traffic flow.

“The effects of heavy landslides that affected Rwanda side last week have extended to the Ugandan side. Thankfully we have an efficient alternative in the form of the recently completed Ntungamo-Mirama Hills road to connect to Rwanda,” the statement reads.
