Uganda denies deploying troops to Yemen
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces have denied any deployment plans to West Asian state Yemen.
According to an Arabic website (Arab21.com), UPDF troops are required by United Arab Emirates to reinforce its operations in Yemen.

The website reports that Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan intends to visit Uganda to sign a number of agreements with President Museveni among which is the offer of troops for the operation.
It is reported that UAE is looking at Uganda as an option since Sudan is contemplating withdrawing their troops participating in the Arab alliance in Yemen.
However, when contacted, UPDF spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire refuted claims the forces intend to deploy to Yemen.
“It is not true, no UPDF soldiers are headed for the republic of Yemen,” he told Nile Post.
In November 2017, President Museveni met and held bilateral discussions with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces at the Al Shatei Palace in Abu Dhabi.
The two leaders discussed various ways of supporting and developing each other and opportunities and possibilities available to enhance bilateral co-operation. Museveni invited the Crown Price to Uganda, an invitation that was accepted.
