In a powerful sermon at Swadiq Mosque in Kampala during Eid Adhuha prayers Dr. Ssemudu Yahaya, Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, strongly condemned acts of terrorism and urged the youth to take an active role in promoting peace and security as the country approaches next year’s elections.

This comes after the attack on the Martyrs Shrine in Munyonyo, which, although unsuccessful, claimed two lives two days ago.

“No matter the faith or ethnicity, youth should avoid such acts,” Ssemudu said.

Dr. Yahaya condemned acts of terrorism, emphasizing that they have no place in Ugandan society.

He called on all citizens to reject violence and work towards building a more peaceful and secure future.

He said that by working together, citizens can help ensure a brighter future for generations to come.

Dr. Yahaya also emphasized the importance of following the Prophet’s teachings on promoting peace and love, calling on Muslims to work together to build a more secure and prosperous society.

He stressed that insecurity is the greatest threat to the nation and urged the youth not to be swayed by foreign forces that seek to destabilize the country.

Uganda’s population and its most productive segment are largely made up of youth.

Dr. Yahaya’s call to action for the youth is particularly significant in the context of the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for young people to contribute to national development and peacebuilding, working hand in hand with security agencies to promote peace and stability.

“Most of the youth have not witnessed insecurity,” Dr. Ssemudu said, “but you can look at Sudan, where I serve as Uganda’s Ambassador. Most rich people have lost their belongings, infrastructure, industries, businesses, and have become refugees in different countries. Would you love that?

Dr. Ssemudu Yahaya, while reciting various Qur’an suuras, said this Eid Adhuha takes three days of celebration and is very important.

He urged Muslims to visit and give to the needy, shower them with love, and forgive anyone who wronged them, as they slaughter animals in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his child in obedience to God.
