EU Special envoy Meets CDF, hails UPDF role in regional peace

The European Union Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region, Ambassador Johan Borgstam, has held regional security talks with the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

During their meeting, the two leaders also discussed Operation Shujaa’s progress, and future EU-Uganda cooperation.

Ambassador Borgstam praised the UPDF’s vital role in maintaining regional stability, acknowledging their efforts in promoting peace and security.

“They discussed regional security, the progress of Operation Shujaa, and further cooperation between the EU and Uganda," a message from the CDF’s meeting noted.

The EU Special Representative expressed strong admiration for the UPDF and pledged to work for strong relations between the EU and Uganda,” it added.

The meeting, was held at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.

Also in attendance was Ambassador Jan Sadek, Head of the EU Delegation to Uganda, and his deputy, Mr Guillaume Chartrain.
