At the official launch of the Taasa Obutonde – Zero Waste Africa partnership, Daniel Komunda, Head of Brands and Marketing at Next Media, made one thing clear: Uganda’s waste problem won’t be solved by awareness alone—it requires consistent behavior change.
Speaking during the panel at the Next Media Park, Komunda emphasized the campaign’s mission to “embed environmental responsibility into everyday life.” He shared how NBS TV, as Uganda’s leading media house, is walking the talk—banning single-use plastics at its offices, developing relatable storytelling for diverse audiences, and engaging communities in real time.
“This is not about one-off events,” Daniel said. “It’s about building a culture where every citizen, school, business, or boda rider sees waste as their responsibility.”
The campaign, launched under the theme My Waste, My Responsibility, is a collaboration between Next Media and Zero Waste Africa and serves as the kickoff to the Uganda Environment Forum 2025. It brings together media, government, civil society, and green entrepreneurs to create action-based momentum for better waste management.
