Events organiser Norbert Twezire has been detailed at Nateete Police Station in Kampala after turning himself in to respond to a series of complaints by local artists.
Police had reportedly issued summons for Twezire, professionally known as Nobat Events, several days earlier, but he requested additional time, citing his involvement in NRM campaign activities.
When he finally reported to the station to provide his statement, officers placed him in detention.
Nobat Events is facing 12 separate cases, most of which were reportedly filed by some of Uganda’s biggest music stars.
Sources indicate that Eddy Kenzo has registered eight complaints, Jose Chameleone filed three, and Mariam Tindatine lodged one.
The allegations against Nobat include defamation, verbal attacks, and the dissemination of false and harmful statements about the artists.
Tindatine’s complaint reportedly stems from statements Nobat allegedly made about her character and conduct.
Luke Owoyesigyire, deputy spokesperson of Police Kampala Metropolitan, said: “Nobat’s statement will determine the next course of proceedings. We are still investigating the matter, and he is being detained to aid investigations.”
Investigations are ongoing, and Nobat remains in police custody as authorities continue to gather evidence and assess the claims made against him.
