Rapper Dragas Dempa has announced his forthcoming album, The Odds On Odds, a project he says will reflect his journey navigating music, education, and identity across continents.
Born in DR Congo and raised in Uganda, Dempa is currently based in Trondheim, Norway, but is looking eastward again with a renewed vision for Uganda’s hip-hop culture.
The album, now in production, will feature collaborations with Drip Baby L4L, Ytee, and Oj Producer.
Dempa hinted that the songs are deeply personal, rooted in the highs and lows of his balancing act between academics and artistry.
Dempa also revealed plans to return to Uganda, driven by a desire to revitalise what he sees as an underdeveloped hip-hop landscape.
“Hip-hop in Uganda has been mismanaged and underused,” he said.
“There’s so much potential here that’s waiting to be unlocked.”
A familiar name in East African hip-hop circles, Dempa’s recent work includes Heavy On Myself (2023), Only Us Forever, and Incoming Call.
His multilingual style—fusing Swahili, English, and Luganda—has earned him a growing audience on platforms like Apple Music and Boomplay.
Although The Odds On Odds does not yet have a confirmed release date, Dempa's fans are already watching closely for his next move—both musically and culturally.
