Kenneth Mugabi, Myko Ouma, Ssewa Ssewa to celebrate Ugandan sounds at Pride of the Pearl concert

It will be a fusion of Sewa Sewa’s Janzi, Kenneth Mugabi’s  Adungu and Myko Ouma ‘s guitar as the trio come together for the first edition of the Pride of the Pearl concert.

The concert will be held on July, 7 at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.

“We want to give you an experience that defines Uganda with touch of culture and heritage with this show. This is our goal, to show you where we(Uganda) are coming from and where we are going,” said Jonathan Kayongo from Soul Events Africa, the organisers of the event.

He said the organisers were intentional in choosing the trio of Ouma, Mugabi and Sewa Sewa whom he described as the best in the land.

“We all know Myko Ouma is one of the best guitarists and a renowned composer. Ssewa Ssewa is a master and creator of the Janzi instrument, also known for his fusion of Ugandan sounds with a range of instruments such as the thumb piano, and the tube fiddle among others. Mugabi is a soulful vocalist and acoustic guitar composer and player.”

We chose the three because they are masters at what they do. When we want to showcase culture and heritage we get the masters.”

Kayongo said at the concert instruments that speak the pride of the pearl will take centre stage, adding that entrance will be at shs500,000 per person and shs5 million for a table of 10 people.
