Security heightened ahead of Vumbula Uganda Festival in Kampala

Security has been beefed up to ensure a peaceful celebration of the much anticipated Vumbula Uganda Festival slated for next weekend in Busabala.

The three-day festival which celebrates art, diverse culture and music is slated for December 1-3, 2023 at Kaazi Camping Grounds in Busabala.

With thousands of festival crowds poised to descend upon Kaazi, the organisers, Vumbula Uganda, are working in conjunction will all security agencies to ensure sufficient security is in place ahead of the event.

On Thursday, several heads of military and police agencies gathered at Kaazi, from where they had a site visit and discussed stringent measures to ensure a safe tourism experience, come next weekend.

Speaking to journalists, Vumbula Uganda’s Shadrack Wasukira, noted that in this edition, they have prioritized security because they want to give attendees the best and safest experience.

“We want to assure our festival lovers that this will be the safest experience. So, you should expect heightened security just like we have been promising you on our platforms,” Wasukira said.

He added, “We are holding this edition in Kampala because of the proximity. For anyone who will not want to camp, they have a choice to go home, rest and come back to enjoy the party.”

According to Vumbula Uganda, the festival will open gates on Friday, midday until Monday morning.

As part of the preparations, extra barricades and fencing will be erected around all corners of the event premises.

Furthermore, hundreds of security personnel and stewards are to be deployed to ensure maximum security at the festival.

With an entrance fee of only Shs50,000, attendees will have access to a wide range of activities that showcase the best of Uganda’s tourism, art, music, and culture.

The venue offers a camping space which will offer a variety of soothing music, tourism exhibitions as well as a food court.

Over 300 acts and cultural troupes are expected to deliver performances during the three-day festival.
