In attempt to take the message to a larger audience, youthful businessman Hamis Kiggundu commonly known as Ham has translated his book titled ‘Success and Failure based on Reason and Reality’ from English to Luganda.

The 154 paged book was launched July last year at his office but due to rising demand from vernacular users and readers, Ham was inspired to translate the book to cater for the audience uncomfortable with English.

In the book Ham explains the intricacies of becoming a successful person and businessman. He says that for one to become successful needs to reasonable thinking capacity, a plan and strategy and personal responsibility.

Such a person must be focused and visionary, consistent and patient, have good listening skills, good friends, ability to take risks in life, forgiving, courageous and determined, a supportive family and a socially, political and economically organized society.

He also discusses making, having and maintaining money, the risks and challenges of making money, building meaning relationship with people and how to become rich and wealthy. Other important topics the businessman talks about in the book are poverty, education, employment and entrepreneurship.

He says the book is not about him and the things he has been able to accomplish but rather ‘about my countrymen and countrywomen to start thinking progressively and have a mindset change for the good of country’s behalf.’

“So many of my friends have approached me from time to time and ask how I have managed to be successful an early age of just 34 years. This is a question I can answer in a simple statement. That is one of the reasons as to why I decided to sit down and write this book,” he said last year.

“It is in my opinion, which may be a fact or not, depending on the reasoning capacity of the reader, that every person of full age, competent understanding and sound mind has the ability to reason and succeed in life. The intention of my book is to jumpstart your mind in the direction of reason,” the businessman notes.

“God created man so self-contained with power of the mind to solve almost all problems in his life that is why we can travel in cars, fly to places and we have the digital world we live in today because someone applied the power of their mind. The book is not about me, many of you have the capacity to even do better than me. I just wish Ugandans can change their mindsets collectively. We can improve our lives and develop our country at large.”

Asked why he decided to write this book, Ham said: “Many people kept asking me asking what I have done at my tender age of 34 years to achieve all this that I have. I would spend a lot of time trying to explain to people what it takes to succeed so I decided to put it in writing,

“The second reason is that it is unfortunate many fellow Ugandans are in a horrible position, it hurts to be successful but when people you live with are not in a joyous situation. I decided that I write a book explaining what it takes to succeed. I believe this was a better way of helping fellow Ugandans.”
