The State Minister for Education and Sports in charge of sports, Peter Ogwang, has confirmed that the Government of Uganda has officially taken over two community secondary schools in Ngora District for grant-aiding.
These are Ngora Agoltome Seed School and Atoot Seed Secondary School.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) games hosted at Ngora High School, Minister Ogwang said that although the process had taken time, the government was committed to supporting education infrastructure and service delivery in rural communities.
“I speak as the Minister of Education and Sports though it has delayed, finally, it has come. I know we have taken time, but we are alive and we are not leaving,” he declared.
“The schools include Atoot Seed Secondary School and Ngora Agoltome Seed School. We are taking them up beginning next financial year, which starts in July.”
The Minister assured the people of Ngora that these developments signal a strong commitment by the government to strengthen education services in underserved regions and improve access to quality learning.
In his address, Ogwang also emphasised that beginning next financial year, the government would fully take control of all Seed Schools across the country, managing their funding, staffing, and operations under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
He further thanked residents of Ngora for their continued support to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, urging them to continue backing their area Members of Parliament, who he said have played a pivotal role in advocating for education projects in the region.
“I want to sincerely thank you for supporting the NRM. I call upon you to continue supporting your area MPs — they are working with us to deliver development,” Ogwang added.
The announcement has been welcomed by local leaders, parents, and school administrators as a major boost for education in Ngora District, where community schools have long struggled with limited resources and staffing.
The minister’s visit and remarks came at a time when the district was basking in the successful hosting of the national school games, highlighting the region’s growing role in national education and sports development.
