Kazo District Local Government has commissioned two new classroom blocks, an office, and a store at Ibaare II Primary School in Kyampangara Sub-County, a development expected to ease congestion and create a more conducive learning environment for the school’s 700-plus learners.
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Captain Yahaya Kakoza, alongside other district officials. Addressing attendees, the RDC urged parents to take responsibility for maintaining the school’s facilities.
“This school belongs to the community. It is your duty to safeguard it and ensure that future generations also benefit from these structures,” he emphasized.
For years, Ibaare II Primary School had struggled with a shortage of classrooms, forcing learners to study in overcrowded conditions.
Head teacher Joseph Ashaba welcomed the new additions, saying, “This is a game-changer for us. The new classrooms will greatly improve the learning experience and allow us to accommodate all students comfortably.”
Kazo District Chairperson Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda commended the people of Kyampangara and Kiguma for supporting government initiatives.
He also stressed the importance of inclusivity in education, warning against expelling pupils over school fees.
“No child should be sent away from school because of fees. Education is a right, and we must find ways to keep all children in school,” he stated.
Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Badru Mayanja Salongo praised the engineers and contractors for their dedication to quality work.
He also urged parents to prioritize their children’s education.
“Beyond providing infrastructure, we must ensure our children receive the education they deserve. I also encourage schools across the district to educate students about HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention,” he advised.
The newly constructed blocks cost Shs 128 million, highlighting the district’s commitment to improving educational facilities.
With this investment, Ibaare II Primary School is set to offer a better learning experience for its students.
