Redeemer Children's School Rises From Tragic Past
Redeemer pupils and administrators celebrate PLE performance

Redeemer Children's Primary School, originally established as an orphanage, has risen from the shadows of a tragic past to become one of Adjumani District's top-performing schools.

The institution, which suffered a devastating attack by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) that saw 17 children abducted, has since transformed into a beacon of hope and academic excellence.

In the recently released 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), all 63 candidates from the school passed, with 31 achieving Division 1 and 32 in Division 2.

The school, founded in 2002 by the Sacred Heart Sisters, credits its success to the dedication of its teachers, the hard work of its pupils, and a focus on holistic education.

Sister Mary Madalene Bidong, the headteacher, expressed gratitude for the remarkable performance.

"Our expectation was a bit higher, but we thank God that all the candidates passed in Division 1 and 2," Sister Bidong said.

Among the top performers was Kamoyo Consulate Anyolu, who scored an impressive Aggregate 6, followed closely by Josua George Bahati with Aggregate 7, and 14-year-old Savior Mogga with Aggregate 8.

Mogga, who aspires to become a medical doctor, shared his dream: "I want to work hard and become a medical doctor in the future so that I can help communities with health service delivery."

Andrew Sala, the school’s director of studies, attributed their achievements to a strong emphasis on moral values, career guidance, and spiritual mentorship.

"We highly consider moral values as a cornerstone for grooming the learners. We also offer career and spiritual guidance," Sala explained.

The 2024 PLE results, released by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Museveni, highlighted an overall improvement in academic performance nationwide.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) executive director, Dan N. Odongo, noted the steady progress in educational outcomes.

The Ministry of Education and Sports has scheduled February 10, 2025, as the reporting date for Senior One students and urged stakeholders to use official channels to access results, reinforcing the government's commitment to a credible education system.

Redeemer Children’s Primary School serves as a testament to resilience, demonstrating how tragedy can be turned into triumph through dedication, hope, and a shared vision for a brighter future.
