Headteacher Remanded for Providing False Information on Pupil Enrollment

The Headteacher of Butale Church of Uganda Primary School, Robert Wolishe, has been arraigned before the Masaka Chief Magistrate Court on charges of providing false information.
He has been remanded until December 23, 2024.
According to the charges, between February and May 2024, Wolishe submitted incorrect pupil enrollment records to the Masaka City Education Officer, claiming that 423 Universal Primary Education (UPE) pupils had been enrolled, which was not true.
"He knew that this act would cause financial loss to the government," the charges stated.
The arrest and arraignment of Wolishe are a result of a collaborative effort between the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
