Monica Namulondo, the head of deaf pupils at Nakalama Primary, described Nakanda as a well-behaved and hardworking student who has made a significant impact during her seven years at the school.

Namulondo emphasized the importance of early exposure to sign language for deaf children, suggesting that starting sign language education at a young age ensures a better understanding and smoother learning process.

"Deaf children should be introduced to sign language early, and parents should support their children by using it to communicate at home," she said.

Sandra Kwagala, the Iganga District Inspector of Schools, confirmed that a total of 8,484 candidates are sitting for their Primary Leaving Examinations across the district, with 1,200 of them from schools in Iganga Municipality.
