In a poignant display of unity and reverence, hundreds of mourners from diverse backgrounds have converged in Koloin, Ngora District, to bid farewell to Sarah Eperu, a former prominent figure within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.

Among the notable figures in attendance are Dr Kizza Besigye, a key opposition leader, Salaamiu Musumba, Alice Alaso, and Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the FDC president.

However, the solemn occasion has not been without its nuances, as evident by the visible divide between the two FDC factions. Despite coming together to honour Eperu's memory, observers note a considerable distance between the factions, underscoring underlying tensions within the party.

Additionally, several members of parliament from the Lango and Teso regions have joined the gathering to pay their respects. As spokesperson for the FDC Women's League, she led from the front on the streets as much as on talk-shows. She was a common feature on the Barometer show on NBS Television.

The late Eperu gained political currency with activism, running her campaigns with courage and telling the truth even in the face of repressive regime apparatus. Eperu succumbed to renal complications on Sunday at Life Link Hospital in Kampala.
