Police in Nakasongola District are investigating the murder of a 30-year-old mother of seven who was found dead with a deep cut on her neck in Lwabyata Sub-county.

The deceased, identified as Paulin Acca, a resident of Nakayonza Village, was discovered on Thursday evening lying about 10 metres from the roadside.

Savannah Regional Police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima said the body was found by a local resident, Moses Musaasi, who was grazing cattle in the area before reporting the matter to police.

Police said Acca’s underpants were found near the body, prompting investigators to examine different possible circumstances surrounding the killing.

“A canine unit was deployed to assist inquiries, and one suspect has since been arrested in connection with the matter and is currently in police custody,” Twiineamazima said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Acca was formerly married to the man who reported the incident, although the two had separated and had been living apart.

Police said the deceased left behind seven children.

“Forensic and investigative inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death. The arrested suspect will be processed according to the law as investigations continue,” Twiineamazima added.

Police have appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could assist investigators as they work to establish the motive and circumstances behind the killing.
