Police have arrested a suspect found in possession of a suspected stolen motorcycle during a joint security operation at Zengebe Ferry Crossing.

The operation followed a tip-off and an earlier report of a stolen motorcycle registered at Nansana Police Station under reference Nansana 06/28/05/2026.

Officers from Lwampanga Town Council Police Station, working jointly with the Zengebe Marine Detach, mounted surveillance and deployment at the ferry crossing point.

According to Savannah Region Police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the suspect was intercepted at about 5:00pm after arriving at the ferry while riding the motorcycle, which had been flagged as stolen.

“He was immediately intercepted and arrested by the security team,” Twiineamazima said.

Police said the suspect had been captured earlier on CCTV footage, which helped guide officers during the operation.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was allegedly transporting the motorcycle towards Kalaki District at the time of interception.

He is currently being held at Lwampanga Town Council Police Station as investigations continue.

“Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” Twiineamazima added.

Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity and say inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the theft and intended destination of the motorcycle.
