Environmental Activist’s Motorcycle Stolen in Fourth Break-In at Adjumani Home

By | April 7, 2026

Two suspected thieves broke into the home of environmental activist William Amanzuru Lesile in Forua Village, Adjumani Town Council, and stole a motorcycle belonging to the environmental organization Friends of Zoka.

Amanzuru, the team leader of Friends of Zoka, said the suspects entered his home during the night and made away with a red Honda XL Brazil 125 motorcycle, registration number UGH 155J.

“The motorcycle is vital for supporting environmental conservation activities and fieldwork in Zoka Forest,” Amanzuru said.

North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea told Nile Post that he has yet to receive a full briefing from Adjumani Central Police Station and will issue a statement once investigations progress.

“The suspect remains in custody as police continue efforts to identify the second suspect and recover the stolen motorcycle,” Amanzuru added. He appealed to the public and authorities to help trace the motorcycle and bring the culprits to justice.

After reviewing CCTV footage from the area, police deployed a sniffer dog which traced one of the suspects. “The suspect, reportedly wearing a red T-shirt and shorts, was arrested,” Amanzuru said. Investigators noted that he was seen with another man who was bare-chested at the time of the incident.

“This is now the fourth incident in the last four years,” Amanzuru said. “In previous cases, thieves stole household items and personal documents. All incidents were reported to police, but no arrests were made.”

He added that the repeated attacks are affecting both his personal security and the work of Friends of Zoka. “Losing the motorcycle is a big setback for our conservation efforts, especially for regular monitoring, awareness campaigns, and work in Zoka Forest,” Amanzuru said.

Amanzuru has recorded a statement and registered a theft case under SD.REF 03/04/2027 at Adjumani Central Police Station.
