Police at Wandegeya Division are holding two suspects in custody in connection with the murder of Kabugo, a 34-year-old resident of Kalerwe.

The suspects have been identified as Ssebuya and Johnson. They are currently detained at Wandegeya Police Division as investigations into

the incident continue.

Preliminary investigations indicate that at approximately 8:00am on Monday, Police received information regarding a body lying near the fence of Dusuma Garage. Officers immediately responded to the scene and deployed the Police K9 unit to support the inquiry.

Upon arrival, the Police K9 sniffer dog, Pepper, was introduced to the crime scene. The canine picked up a scent from the body and began tracking. Pepper initially tracked for approximately 10 metres before entering the house of the garage askari (security guard). He later exited the house and continued tracking into the garage area, moving along the fence before returning inside the garage premises.

The K9 eventually led officers to a specific location within the garage where the askari and other workers usually sit during working hours. At that spot, Pepper indicated by lying down, signaling the possible presence of crucial evidence.

A subsequent search of the indicated area led to the recovery of a metal bar bearing visible blood stains, which is believed to have been used in the assault of the deceased. Further search operations conducted at the askari’s residence resulted in the recovery of spears and arrows.

The two suspects remain in custody as Police continue with investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the murder.

Further updates will be provided as inquiries progress.
