SSP Lubega said the Chairperson LC I of Bunangwe Zone received information from a local resident who reported seeing a body lying by the roadside.

The LC I chairperson went to the scene, confirmed the report, and immediately alerted police officers, who later visited and documented the area.

Preliminary investigations identified the deceased as Shafiu Musulo, 30, a boda boda rider and resident of Busota Zone in Northern Division, Kamuli Municipality.

The body was formally identified by his father, Robert Kadogo, after a phone call was received on the deceased’s mobile phone, prompting the family to trace his whereabouts.

Initial police assessments indicate that the killing likely occurred during the night of December 29, 2025, at an unknown time.

Police allege that Musulo was riding a motorcycle belonging to a friend at the time of the incident.

The motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFC 684A, was reportedly stolen by the assailants.

Police suspect that Musulo was attacked and killed by unknown individuals who fled the scene with the motorcycle.

The motive behind the killing is believed to be aggravated robbery, although investigations are still ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crime.

“We condemn this heinous criminal act,” SSP Lubega said, adding that police are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen motorcycle.

Police have appealed to members of the public, especially those who may have seen or heard anything unusual on the night of December 29, to cooperate with investigators by providing information that could assist the inquiry.

“This cooperation is crucial in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” SSP Lubega emphasized.

The killing has heightened anxiety among residents of Kamuli Municipality, particularly within the boda boda community, where riders continue to face increasing cases of violent attacks and robberies, especially at night.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
