A domestic dispute in Nachele Village, Nakapiripirit District, has ended in tragedy after two women, Lucia Putan and Oliver Anyakun, died in a chain of events that police have described as deeply disturbing.
According to eyewitnesses, the neighbours had been involved in a heated argument earlier in the day following a fight between their children.
Each mother reportedly defended her own, with the quarrel escalating into an exchange of insults.
Karamoja Region Police spokesperson IP Mike Longole said the situation turned fatal when Lucia Putan stormed into the home of her neighbour, Oliver Anyakun, and hanged herself.
“When the children of Putan saw what had happened, they reacted violently. In an act of revenge, they allegedly strangled Oliver Anyakun,” Longole said.
Police have arrested a prime suspect believed to have taken part in the killing, and investigations are ongoing.
“We are working to ensure that justice is served,” Longole said.
Authorities have condemned the incident and urged communities to seek peaceful ways of resolving domestic disagreements before they escalate into violence.
