The Mubende Magistrates Court has remanded Genesis Dduhimbaazi, the manager of Prime Rose Hotel, following his arrest for the allegation of murder of Ibrahim Mujuni, a hotel tuk-tuk rider.
Dduhimbaazi appeared in court on Tuesday alongside two other suspects — Gideon Kwihangane and Yoram Tulinawe, popularly known as Kanyankole — before Grade One Magistrate Chambers Paul Kedi, the Acting Chief Magistrate.
The trio was charged with murder and denied the opportunity to take plea. They were remanded to Kweeri Prison until December 12, 2025.
During the hearing, family members of the deceased expressed mixed emotions, saying the suspects should face justice.
“I feel relieved though still in shock over my husband’s death, because court has denied these people bail. I pray for justice,” said Annet Nagawa, Mujuni’s wife.
Nagawa also appealed to government authorities to intervene in the matter.
“We know these people have money, but I request the President and the Prime Minister to intervene in this case,” she said.
She further called on Dduhimbaazi’s father, the owner of Prime Rose Hotel, to take responsibility for supporting her orphaned children.
“His father owns the hotel, and remember his son was the manager. I want him to at least take care of my two children because they are still in school, and their father was the breadwinner,” Nagawa added.
The arrest of Dduhimbaazi followed the capture of Tulinawe, who led police to the crime scene and implicated Dduhimbaazi as the mastermind behind Mujuni’s murder.
