Clinical Officer Arrested Over Aggravated Defilement
Fred Kazungu, 40, attached to Mpumudde Health Centre IV in Jinja City, allegedly lured the victim with yogurt and biscuits on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16.

Police in Jinja City have arrested a clinical officer over defilement of a 5-year-old minor.

The 40-year-old suspect, only identified as Fred for legal reasons, is attached to Mpumudde Health Centre IV in Jinja City, to where he allegedly lured the victim with yogurt and biscuits on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16.

The suspect approached the victim's mother who operates a canteen at the said health facility asking the victim's mother about her daughter's whereabouts.

Kiira Region  Police spokesperson James Mubi said shortly after, the victim came and was sent to the shop by Fred in the neighbourhood to buy for yogurt and biscuits.

On return, the victim took the items to the room belonging to the suspect in question located within the premises of the health facility.

"Fred undressed the victim and performed unlawful sexual act with her," Mubi said. "The health facility top management informed Mpumudde Police Station that promptly responded and arrested the culprit who had started evading arrest by running away."

By press time, Police were processing the victim and the suspect for medical examinations.

"The medical and all other mandatory procedures are being conducted and prosecution guided investigations ongoing to have the culprit produced before courts of law and answer charge of aggravated defilement," Mubi added.
